The Chamber of Deputies elected its Speaker and Vice-Speakers

(Prague, 6/11/2025)

Tomio Okamura (SPD, Freedom and Direct Democracy) was elected the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.
Patrik Nacher (ANO 2011) became the First Vice-Speaker. In this term, the Chamber is set to have four Vice-Speakers in total. Jiří Barták (Motorists for Themselves) and Jan Skopeček (ODS, Civic Democratic Party) were elected as additional Vice-Speakers, with one additional spot remaining open, tentatively to go to the STAN – Mayors and Independents movement.

The Speaker and Vice-Speakers of the Chamber of Deputies represent the leadership of the Chamber and exercise powers set out in the Rules of Procedure of the Chamber of Deputies. The Speaker convenes, opens, and chairs meetings of the Chamber, represents it externally, supervises activities of its bodies, and appoints the Head of the Office of the Chamber of Deputies. The Vice-Speakers deputize for the Speaker in his powers, participate in the organization of the Chamber’s work, chair meetings in his absence, and, together with him, are members of the Organizational Committee, which coordinates the Chamber’s legislative and operational agenda.
