Committee on European Affairs

The Committee plays a key role in the performance of parliamentary monitoring of the European agenda in the Chamber of Deputies. It is among the obligatorily established committees.

The committee discusses draft EU legislation and other EU documents, and deals with current European issues. It also oversees the government’s EU affairs decision-making in the EU Council and European Council. Within its jurisdiction, the Committee expresses itself on governmental proposals of candidates for European Commissioner, for Justice at the European Court of Justice and for nominations to the bodies of the EIB and EBRD for the Czech Republic.

The Committee also obligatorily discusses the relevant chapter of the draft law on the state budget and the state final account concerning revenues from the EU budget and contributions to the EU budget.
